La concentration en saccharose du milieu variait de 10 à 120 g/l, entraînant des modifications morphologiques et biochimiques. Les différences les plus intéressantes ont été observées sur les plantes ayant subi deux traitements lumineux distincts (F ou F + i) induisant ou non la bulbification. L'oignon est capable de mettre en réserve une grande quantité de saccharose exogène en le transformant en fructosanes. L'induction du processus par la lumière incandescente (F + i) augmente la capacité de polymérisation de ces sucres. Les fructosanes ne semblent pas en relation avec la dormance des bulbes ainsi obtenus."
